Los Angeles Stadium Makes History: US Defeats Paraguay in FIFA World Cup 2026

It’s exactly what US fans wanted: the most goals the US has ever scored in a single World Cup match.

USA defeated Paraguay 4-1 on Friday night, June 12, 2026, in the first match. There’s a lot of excitement for soccer in America right now. Los Angeles Stadium hosted 70,492 fans, and for many, it was a great opportunity to experience soccer’s thrills.

The US broke through Paraguay’s defense in the seventh minute when Weston McKennie’s cross was kicked into the net by Damián Bobadilla for an own goal. In the 37th minute, Balogun scored his first goal of the game, beating goalkeeper Orlando Gill to make it 2-0. He further increased the lead to 3-0 by scoring his second goal during first-half stoppage time.

Paraguay tried to come back in the game with a goal from substitute Mauricio in the 73rd minute. However, Team USA never lost control and Gio Reyna scored the fourth goal in the stoppage time of the second half making history for Americans.

A dream come true. It was great to have the FIFA World Cup in the US.
