Houston Stadium Thrills: Germany Outclass World Cup Debutants Curacao by 7-1
The result was as expected. Germany defeated debutants Curaçao with ease in their opening match at the 2026 World Cup. No doubt the beginning of the game was thrilling when Curaçao equalized in the 21st minute, after the first German goal in the sixth minute.
This one sided match was played at Houston Stadium, Texas. Germany took the lead early in the sixth minute with a beautifully placed shot by Nmecha. After equalizing, the German team cracked Curacao’s defense in the 38th minute when Schlotterbeck scored with a header from a corner.
It was Schlotterbeck’s first international goal for his country.
The Germans went into the break with a two-goal lead as Havertz passed the ball into the corner.
The second half was under the full control of the German team. In the 47th minute, Musiala beat both a defender and the goalkeeper placing the ball into the left corner. From there, the Germans scored roughly every ten minutes, ending the game with a 7-1 victory.
