USA won their second consecutive match at Seattle on Friday defeating Australia 2-0. This back-to-back victory has confirmed the place in the knockout round.

Team USA took an early lead in the 11th minute through the own goal of Australian defender Cameron BURGESS. Just before the end of the first half, the Americans doubled their lead when Alex Freeman beautifully sent a header into the back of the net.

The teams went into the break with a 2-0 score.

Australian players struggled to find gaps throughout the match, failing to break through due to the Americans’ control on the game and repeated attacks. Both teams managed only two shots on target throughout the entire match; however, the US efficiently converted both of theirs into goals, while Australia failed.

Now, Team USA will play their final group match against Turkiye, who has been eliminated after losing both of their opening matches to Australia and Paraguay. And the match between Paraguay and Australia will decide the group’s second qualifier.
