FIFA World Cup 2026: Spain Edges Belgium 2-1 in Second Quarterfinal

Spain defeated Belgium 2-1 in the second quarterfinal of the FIFA World Cup at Los Angeles Stadium. From the opening whistle, Spain played with an aggressive attack and controlled the tempo throughout the match.

In the 30th minute of the game, Spain took the lead when Fabián Ruiz scored on a rebound. The goal mounted pressure on the Belgian side, who poured all their energy into an equalizer. While Spain maintained excellent control over the match, Charles De Ketelaere equalized the game just a few minutes before halftime.

The teams went into the break at 1-1.

The second half was played mostly in Belgium’s half, but Spain struggled to find a breakthrough. However, in the 88th minute of the game, they regained the lead through Mikel Merino, sealing a 2-1 victory.

Now, Spain will face France in the semifinal.
