Lionel Messi Makes History as All-Time World Cup Top Scorer

Lionel Messi became the FIFA World Cup’s all-time top goalscorer as he scored his first goal against Austria in the second match of Group J. Argentina ultimately defeated Austria 2-0 thanks to Messi’s double.

What a historic moment for Messi and Argentina! He has officially broken German legend Miroslav Klose’s 12-year-old World Cup scoring record!

He broke the record with his first goal in the 38th minute, and then extended his record by scoring another goal in second-half stoppage time.

Argentina has now qualified for the next knockout round of 32 as Algeria defeated Jordan 2-1. And they will play their last group match against Jordan who have been eliminated.
