Group I Decided: France and Norway Through to Next Round of 32

France eliminated Iraq by defeating them 3-0 at Philadelphia Stadium, while Norway knocked out Senegal after a sensational 3-2 contest at New York New Jersey Stadium.

French captain Kylian Mbappé played a crucial role in the victory, scoring a beautiful goal from outside the penalty area in the 14th minute before receiving a gift from the Iraqi goalkeeper for the second goal. The French team maintained pressure with excellent moves and repeated attacks, while their defenders did not allow the opponents to mount any effective attacks. Meanwhile, although the French players missed two simple chances, they added a third goal through Ousmane Dembélé in the 66th minute.

The second match of the group was a sensational game. It was an excellent, high-tempo match as the Senegal fought to keep their knockout hopes alive.

No goal for the first 42 minutes, until Norwegian defender Marcus Holmgren Pedersen scored the goal in the 43rd minute.

The teams went into the break with a 1-0 score.

The second half of the game began with renewed energy. Norway doubled their lead three minutes after the restart through Erling Haaland, but Senegal poured all of their energy into a comeback and Ismaïla Sarr scored the goal for Senegal in the 53rd minute. However, Norway extended their lead again just five minutes later through Haaland’s second goal. They maintained the advantage until Ismaïla Sarr scored his own second goal during second-half stoppage time.

Back-to-back victories for France and Norway have confirmed their spots in the knockout Round of 32, while they will play against each other for the third group match.
