Biggest Upset of the FIFA World Cup 2026 So Far
Paraguay defeated Germany 4–3 on penalties at Boston Stadium. Paraguay took the lead a few minutes before halftime with an excellent header from Julio Enciso. However, German player Kai Havertz equalized the game in the 54th minute. German attacks, moves, and possession of the ball were very impressive and dominant throughout the game. In extra time, they made several attacks on Paraguay’s goal, but the goalkeeper stunned the German side with his defense.
After extra time, the contest was decided from the penalty spot. In five penalty shots, both teams scored 3–3, but in the next sudden-death round, Germany missed their shot and Paraguay scored to win the contest.
Four-time champions Germany are out of the World Cup 2026.
